Enhanced Precautionary Measures against COVID-19 – Temporary Closure of Learning Centres

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that schools in Brunei will be closed until 29th March to mitigate the possible spread of Covid-19. In support with this decision and as part of our ongoing effort to safeguard the health of our students in Kumon, all Kumon Learning Centres In Brunei will observe a ‘Temporary Closure’ for classes from 16th – 29th March.
During ‘Temporary Closure’
1. Parents are to collect homework at least until 29th March for home learning for their children from the learning centres during the period of 12th – 15th March. The instructor will advise and provide guidance on how to manage Kumon study at home.
2. All Kumon Learning Centres will remain open during the period of ‘Temporary Closure’ for parents and students to send in their Kumon worksheets for marking. Those who need guidance on how to manage Kumon study at home may arrange to do so via a meeting or phone consultation with the instructor. Kindly note that temperature checks, hand santization and/ or washing of hands upon entry into centre will be required prior to the meeting. Those with temperature higher than 37.5 degree celsius will be required to have their meeting rescheduled.
3. Mandatory Travel Declaration for all students and staff. Those who are travelling and returning from ‘high risk’ countries are required to self-monitor for 14 days upon return. The countries are Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, South Korea and Italy.
After ‘Temporary Closure’
1. All parents and students to continue to observe and adhere to the precautionary measures put in place at the Kumon Learning Centres.
2. As a form of goodwill, we will avail up to 2 replacement classes for the students. The replacement classes should be done in April and/or May. Parents may arrange for the replacement classes with their respective Kumon Learning Centres.
We will continue to act in the best interests and safety of all people in Brunei. We strongly advise students and their families to monitor their health and adopt good personal hygiene habits. Parents should seek immediate medical attention for your children if unwell, and ensure that they have recovered before resuming classes.
As the situation is evolving, we will constantly review and adjust our responses to deal with any situation that may arise.
